onstail's felted slippers →
As good Swedes do, my boyfriend taught me the value of leaving our shoes at the door, which keeps the apartment floors cleaner and is kinder to our downstairs neighbors. The downside of this is that my feet are always cold, and I can’t bring myself to buy a pair of bulky, dowdy slippers that are sold everywhere. Fortunately, I just stumbled across newcomer onstail’s felted slippers...
dpcustoms' sushi boards →
I’ve been trying to force myself to post more colorful items than metals, grays and woods, but I can’t help it if I’m drawn to that stuff! And if loving DPcustoms’ rich wood grain sushi boards ($60) is wrong, well I don’t want to be right!
moonspinning yarn →
It’s extremely cold out today. The kind of day I’d like to be tucked onto a couch in front of a crackling fire, chatting with a few friends, sipping hot chocolate and mindlessly crocheting one of those bulky cowls everyone seems to be wearing. And what better to work with than Moonspinning’s gorgeous merino yarn (shown here: #12, $8.50) - bright, vibrant colors, handspun and...
twey's eggventures eggcups →
Eggcups are a phenomenon that never made it to my childhood home; we took our eggs sunnyside up or scrambled, maybe even poached (though really, only in restaurants). The hard and soft boiled varieties never really rated with us, so eggcups were a foreign object, and largely irrelevant. If only we’d had Twey’s highly stylized Eggventures ($30), things might have been different…
tramp millinery felt cloche hat →
I never understand people walking around in the dead of winter completely bare-headed; first of all, it’s just too cold for that, and second, there are so many fabulous hats out there! A finely-shaped, asymmetrical felt cloche is one of my favorite varieties, and this sleek gray version from TRAMP millinery in Scotland is both affordable ($65) and goes with everything. That’s the...
lwhitedesign's split rings →
Never one for typical gemstones or settings, I find L White Design’s split stone rings, like this prehnite and chryscolla version ($250), both beautiful and interesting.
my house party's air plant homes →
If you live in the city, chances are you know a lot of people who move. I do. I’m always searching for the perfect (not too big, not too small) housewarming gift. And I’ve finally found it. MyHouseParty’s nifty handmade wood houses ($12 - $26) come stocked with beautiful, easy-to-care-for succulents and air plants. Compact, thoughtful, and a great way to say “welcome...
dally7 original watercolors →
I’ve been considering how to make my office less cluttered and more comfortable, a challenge based on the number of boxes and files surrounding me, but I think a few of dally7’s evocative, serene watercolors ($30) would do the trick quite nicely. Beautiful colors, minimalist paint strokes, a lovely addition to any room (even an office).
suldrun's felted wool boulder →
I don’t know that my living room is chic enough to pull this off yet (ok, it’s not), but that doesn’t keep me from admiring Suldrun’s bold felted boulder ($450). In the meantime, I can still console myself with some felted rocks ($10) or pebble soaps ($5, $12).
tider design mid-century modern chair necklaces →
A new collection I’m very excited about; given all the rage over mid-century mod chairs, who wouldn’t want a tiny, much less expensive version ($46) to enjoy all around town, not just at home?
tider design's gingko ring →
Who says I can’t tout my own work?! The gingko ring - which comes in both sterling silver ($68) and 18k gold ($350) is a great balance of modern and delicate, not to mention adjustable, so it makes a great gift if you don’t know what size your lady friend (or your sister) wears.
henna baby mehndi designs →
Among my recent favorites are Henna Baby’s onesies hand-painted with mehndi designs ($34.95)… clever, beautiful and more unusual than a standard Ralph Lauren baby polo.
kailey hawthorn's recycled record clocks →
It’s a bit of a shame that every electronic item in my home reminds me the time; as a consequence, actual clocks have gone by the wayside. Then again, these recycled-records-turned-timepieces ($37) have me reconsidering…
ian gill's dream window necklace →
As a metal artist myself, I’m not easily impressed by run-of-the-mill jewelry, but I was immediately taken with Ian Gill’s intricate rosewood and silver wired pendant ($85). It’s beautifully wired with one continuous strand of argentium sterling silver, cleverly done because argentium is much more resistant to tarnish than traditional sterling. Nice!
micamade’s sweat bolero →
Micamade’s new Sweat Bolero ($90) is architecturally stunning, and based upon its sweatshirt material, I’m assuming it’s also incredibly comfortable. Gorgeous! I’m not someone who typically buys clothes online, sight unseen, but I almost can’t help myself…
